About
About Our School
We are a small school with 4 mainstream classes and 2 ASD classes.

Kilskyre NS opened in its present building in February 1971.
Des Boylan was principal until 1982. In 1982 Peadar Falsey was appointed as principal. At that stage there were 63 pupils in the school and three teachers. The school continued to grow over the next few years and by 1989 the school reached its peak with an enrolment of 115 pupils and four teachers. However, in the years that followed for various reasons the numbers declined in Kilskyre NS. By 2007 there were only 39 pupils and two teachers.
In 2007 Peadar Falsey was replaced by Gerard Ruane. In the years that followed the numbers began to increase again and in 2008 the school was given ‘Developing Status’ which resulted in the appointment of two more teachers. The school was now a three teacher school with a Learning Support/Resource teacher also based in the school. In September 2011 Sinéad Traynor replaced Gerard Ruane as principal and a fourth classroom teacher was also appointed due to an increase in enrolment.
In September 2015 our 5th classroom teacher was appointed. In September 2018 we became a 4 teacher school again. Vincent Traynor replaced Sinead Traynor as Principal in 2018 and in 2019 Ailish McKeown replaced Vincent Traynor as Principal.
In 2023 we opened up two ASD Classes. In November 2024 Bebhinn King took over as principal of the school. At present there are 4 mainstream classroom teachers, 2 Support teachers, 2 ASD Teachers and 6 SNAs in the school.

We aim to promote the full harmonious development of all aspects of the child – intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual – in a Christian, caring and learning environment.
